The Babyn Yar site is the main space for the future museum. This is where the historical events took place, and where they should be discussed. Every inch of this land consists of history, is a "living archive", which gives us the chance to discover the past.
Today, the territory of Babyn Yar is completely different from the scene of the tragedy in 1941-1943. Its relief has been changed beyond recognition; cemeteries destroyed, a park and the residential area built nearby. The past is not visible in present-day Babyn Yar. The threads between its history and modernity are hidden. Our projects’ aim is to uncover and restore the connection between this place, its past, and its present.
