Babyn Yar in the future. The Holocaust Memorial Center presents the objects that will be in the ravine

On Thursday, October 7, the roundtable "Past, present and future of Babyn Yar" will take place in Kyiv. Members of the Architectural Advisory Board of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center, as well as architects who designed single objects in the ravine, will discuss recent projects and further construction of the memorial complex.


Objects that are planned to be built on the territory of Babyn Yar will be presented. These are:

– the first museum space "Kurgan", designed by the architectural company SUB (Berlin);

– the object that reproduces the history of the shootings on September 29–30, 1941, in Babyn Yar due to 3D modelling technology developed by the Center for spatial technologies;

– the Museum of Oblivion in the Former Office of the Jewish Cemetery (architectural bureau OFFPOLINN) the Horizontal Landscape Museum.


During the roundtable, Nick Axel, curator of the Architectural Advisory Board of the Holocaust Memorial Center, will present two books about Babyn Yar that were published to the 80th anniversary of tragedy. "Babyn Yar: Past, Present, Future" is about the current present state, and future of the ravine. The book "How Beautiful Are Your Dwelling Places, Jacob" is about the symbolic synagogue, which was built in Babyn Yar this spring.


The event will be broadcast on the Facebook and YouTube pages of the Memorial Center.
